The five pillars of Islam are the foundation upon which the religion is built. They are: the testimony that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger; establishing the five daily prayers; paying the obligatory zakat; fasting the month of Ramadan; and performing Hajj to the Sacred House for whoever is able. These pillars are established by clear texts of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Whoever rejects any one of them out of denial has left the fold of Islam, while whoever neglects them out of laziness has committed a major sin and must repent and return to them.
