nawawiDay.commentary

Reciprocity with Allah: what you do for believers, He does for you on the Day of Judgement.

nawawiDay.extendedExplanation

Reciprocity with Allah: every act for a believer is mirrored by Allah on the Day of Judgement. Relieve a distress → Allah relieves yours. Conceal a fault → Allah conceals yours. Help a brother → Allah helps you. The economy of the ākhirah is run on this currency.

Ibn Rajab adds that the hadith continues: ‘Whoever travels a path seeking knowledge — Allah eases for him a path to Jannah.’ The full hadith ties together five great deeds: relieving distress, helping the indebted, concealing faults, aiding a brother, and seeking knowledge — each with a corresponding divine reward.

nawawiDay.fromScholars

"‘Allah is in the help of the servant as long as the servant is in the help of his brother’ — a perpetual divine accompaniment, conditional on perpetual service to others."

Ibn Rajab · Jāmi‘ al-‘Ulūm wa al-Ḥikam

"Concealing a Muslim’s sin is praised — but not the sin of one who openly broadcasts evil or harms others. There, public warning may be required."

Ibn ‘Uthaymīn

nawawiDay.fiqhRulings

  • Relieving a believer’s distress includes financial aid, intercession, advice, emotional support.
  • Concealing faults applies to private sins of an individual that do not harm others. Public broadcasters of sin lose this right.
  • Concealment is NOT silence in the face of crimes against others (abuse, theft, fraud) — the rights of the victim override the perpetrator’s privacy.
  • Seeking knowledge — sincere, not for show — is a path to Jannah.

nawawiDay.keyBenefits

  • 1Helping the Ummah is a route to Allah's help.
  • 2Concealing faults is a beloved act to Allah.

nawawiDay.warnings

  • Concealment must NEVER protect abusers, fraudsters, or those harming others — the victim’s rights take priority.
  • ‘Help your brother’ has no force if helping him means harming a third innocent party.
