التعريف

The minimum amount of wealth (gold, silver, cash, livestock, etc.) that must be possessed for one full lunar year (ḥawl) before zakāh becomes due. For cash, the niṣāb is the value of 85g of gold or 595g of silver — scholars differ which to use; silver favours the poor.

النطق: ni-ṢĀB

الاشتقاق والجذر

From ن-ص-ب (n-ṣ-b), meaning 'to set up, to establish.' The niṣāb is the established threshold.

التطبيق العملي

Track your zakatable assets monthly so you know when you crossed the niṣāb and when the ḥawl matures.
